At St Peter’s Anglican Kindergarten we believe that three- and four-year-old kindergarten – the years before school - are special, precious years full of rich learning, fun and memorable experiences, learning and growth.
We run one four-year-old group (“Bilbies”) of up to 22 children with two educators and one three-year-old group (“Wombats”) with a maximum of 20 children to two educators. Our high educator to child ratios reflects our philosophy of the importance of quality time with each child.
We have a very experienced team of four staff who believe quality relationships with families and children are paramount to the educational and emotional outcomes for all children.
We provide a welcoming environment and encourage family involvement in aspects of sharing culture, customs, language, contributing to the program (i.e. program ideas and cooking), helping out and volunteering on the Committee of Management.
Our program is play-based where children learn through open ended experiences that develop skills that are guided by the Outcomes of the Early Years Learning Framework. Play means the children will explore many varied activities independently, in small and large groups, and with educator and parent guidance. The learning experiences we provide are many and varied: art/craft, construction activities, sensory play, science and math activities, story books, storytelling, group games, board games, drama, music, puzzles, imaginative play, dress ups, sand play, outdoor play, ball play, climbing, gardening and cooking etc. We follow the children’s interests and ideas as well as individual and group needs, which are the basis of the program, along with teacher initiated learning topics.
